Event Pavilion
Architectural Model: The Dragonfly Pavilion
Exterior Event pavilion add on for Lolas' Coffee Shop. This add on would provide event space for small bands, bridal and baby showers, and outdoor parties. Biomorphic form of a dragonfly wing, made with Perlite Cement, Hemp Rebar, and Earthen plaster. The shape of the roof and floor mimic each other and are symmetrical. The plaster creates a lived in effect and gives a Mediterranean feel complementary to the interior design of Lolas'. The structure is lightweight and 60% less weight than traditional plaster. Hemp rebar material is more effective at taking carbon from the atmosphere than trees. This sustainable structure is a large scale formation that provides natural heating and cooling from its form and provides a beautiful location for events. The architecture is complex in its design however uses minimal off-cuts in the construction, decreasing waste.
